This removable holder is just what I needed. I often ride my Tiger 800 without side cases, so I didn't want to have the mounts staring at me when the side cases were off. A few twists of a special key and the mounts are gone! A few twists of the key and they are back on! I bought a used set of Pelican side cases and permanently attached them to the mounts because I figure if I am going to be travelling with them, I won't need to remove them every night. And yet, I can easily remove the mounts and bags together. I did have to shorten the special key used to undo the mount fasteners so that I could fit it with the bags connected to the mount.
