originally bought these as summer road gloves from another site that had described them as having some upper hand protection/padding also however they don't, they are a stretch material on top. The palm protector is a good bonus and i'll use them in the dirt instead. The stitching and seams on the fingers are scratchy and uncomfortable at first however they do improve once you wear them a couple of times. not bad for offroad and with added protection of a hard palm protector.
