The photochromic shield will begin to darken when the sun hits it however I find it does not get as dark as Shoei's smoked shield. That said, it is dark enough to give your eyes some relief from the brightness of the sun hitting you. Only the part of the shield exposed to the sun will darken. I found this out when i rested my helmet on my bike only part of my helmet was in the sun, the other part was in the shade.

This is the perfect lens if you do a bit of both day and night riding. It saves having to constantly change visors over. It transitions from light to dark fairly quickly. The only downside is the cost. It isn't cheap!

The Shoei Photochromatic visor lets me ride day and night (and on longer rides that span both) without worrying about carrying a second visor. This is essential When riding my supersport as it makes the difference between having to carry a backpack and not. It is a bit pricey, but Motostorm has it for a better price than anywhere else. It's of the best pieces you can get to simplify your gear!

I love this transitions shield on my Shoei helmet. It is great to not have to ride at night with the visor open or to wedge sunglasses in the helmet. If there were any nits to pick, it would be that the shield could be slightly darker.

I love that this visor solves needing two different visors. It's a little expensive and I think the company knows it's a convenient thing (as well as safety) so people do have to pay the premium price for it.

What a great advisor it gets so dark in the daylight. And gets late right away once he started getting dark or if you go inside of a store or something like that It’s nice not to have to worry about getting caught out in the dark on your ride. We’re having to take another advisor with you or something.

Photochromic lenses adapt to light perfectly! Clear indoors, dark outdoors—no need to swap lenses. Great for all-day rides, but can be slow to adjust in extreme changes. A must-have for convenience! 😎🏍️

I love this shield. Never again will I have to worry about sun in my eyes or having a dark tinted shield at night. This shield is always the perfect level of darkness. It s a little pricey but it's worth it.
