Helite Roadster Airbag Jacket Brown

I've been on the fence about this jacket for a long time. On one hand, I have a Helite Vented jacket, that works great, but obviously it is less then ideal for cold or rain. On the other hand, reviews of this jacket underline how massive it is - think, non-perforated cowhide and airbag membrane hardly translate to a breezy garment. However, I am very happy I decided to try it for myself. The jacket feels sold, well made and offering great safely. The leather is thick and truly feels like armor. It does not offer much ventillation - some at the armpits, plus one can leave the sleeves and neck open - but for temperatures between 7 and 25 the jacket is great. Comfort-wise I was pleasantly surprised. Once donned, the immense weigth (leather+airbag) of the jacket disappear, it is comfortable when riding all day. The bane of leather jackets, the neck area is treated with a soft material, it does not chafe the neck. There are quite a few pockets internally and externally, more than leather jackets usually have. The padded phone phocet on the left is a nice touch. On the right the top pocket is reserved for the airbag canister. The airbag should work great, I only tested it on my other Helite jacket. It is reusable, you change the canister and go, no need to send it to the manufacturer. Also, don't worry about it going off accidently if you forget to unclip yourself, it doesn't, it would require a heavier pull. Motostorm had the best price for it in EU, I'm glad I ordered from them. The first one was a tad too small (the jacket cut into the armpit area when riding), Motostorm readily exchanged it for a bigger one that's perfect. Five stars.
