Gaerne Balance boots are an incredible piece of gear. They blend super high quality materials with great fit, good protection, and just enough flex to comfortably wear and walk in, all day.
Gaerne probably has the best fit in the world, and the comfort of these is outstanding. The entire upper of the boot is made from 5 pieces, so very few seams. This allows the boot to crease without pressure points. They have a wide toebox, and are great for people with wide feet.
Balance Oileds have a world class quality that is hard to describe. Everything about them -materials, assembly, fit, styling- has a craftsmanship, a tangible feel of quality. They are impressive in that same way of an expensive watch, aluminium machined parts, etc. Incredible comfort. Super-high quality full grain oil-tanned leather-among the best in the world. Wide toe-box -great for wide footed riders. 3 alloy replaceable buckles. Waterproof / breathable Drytech liner. Gum rubber sole for grip and easy walking.

Very comfortable and flexible!
5/5

These are the most comfortable trials/adventure boots I have worn straight out of the box! Can walk around and ride all day at a trials with these on and hardly notice that I'm wearing riding boots at all. The fit is slightly larger than what my typical shoes sizes run. The leather cleans easily and buckles have held up well. The boot's leather and hardware have held up very good over the years. Good enough that my original pair has been resoled with Gaerne Trials sole replacement kit and still is a great solid pair of riding boots.

Best trials boots
5/5

I bought a pair of these back in 2005. The soles are flat so you can shift and move around over the footpegs more easily than boots that have an extended heel. I still have this boot, although the rubber sole has begun peeling off. That says alot about the quality of these boots. I'm definitely replacing it with another balance oiled Gaerne for riding trials.

Solid Adventure Boot
4/5

I have owned and used these as my primary adventure boots for four years -- I have the older model with some subtle graphic differences. Pros: comfortable, verified waterproof, durable (no broken straps, buckles, or torn seams), and easy to walk in. Cons: no shift lever toe guard, the soft sole wears faster than leather but not unreasonably so, and they do not vent very well (can be hot). If Gaerne sold these in a shorter version, I would buy a pair for around town use.

Good adventure boot choice
4/5

I have used these for a few months now and they work pretty great. They don't have as much protection as other boots but they work great so far. Only downside and reason for 4 instead of 5 star is the bottom sole started peeling at the tip of the boot already even with the little use I've given them. I'm super glueing them but its sad to see happen.

Very comfortable and stylish
4/5

This is a great boot and high quality. I use it for motocross and street riding. I have two buddies who also use this boot and that is why I went for it. Also read a ton of great reviews online. Not like my old very stiff boots.

work of art
5/5

I got these boots awhile back and wear em when I'm out trials riding. They are soo comfortable you could wear them all day. Are nice to look at too, like a work of art. You can definitely see the years that went into the design of this boot.

Nice boots
5/5

These boots look great and are top quality. The fit and finish of these boots is second to none. For heavy touring and casual off-road, they are the best bang for the buck. With a superior reputation for comfort and longevity, these boots out-class the competition. Motostorm offers the best deal on these boots anywhere online.

Brilliant boots

I've ridden trials for 25+ years and have owned many pairs of these boots. They are the most comfortable boot I have found, and I have tried many styles and brands. Once your on a good thing, stick to it

Gaerne oiled Balance boots are the best
5/5

I purchased a pair of the Gaerne oiled balance boots for dual sport riding. These boots wear great and do not need to be broken in at all. These boots are some of the best wearing foot wear I own. I have worn these boots in Hot and cold weather as well as rainy conditions and never let me down. The buckles are easy to adjust and quick to put on and go riding. I will be purchasing another pair for myself and my girlfriend since she likes to ride with me sometimes. These boots provide great protection in the shin area as well and the sole of the boot is flexible enough so you get a good feel of the bike when riding.

Great boots, but beware sizing...
5/5

These boots are extremely comfortable but beware of the advertised sizes. The website says Eur 43, US 9, UK 9.5, however the boots actually say Eur 43, US 9 (which is UK 8.5). You will definitely need to go up a size, so I reordered Eur 44 (my UK shoe size is 8). Once the size is right, they are lovely and dry and warm.

Botas comodas y blandas... a expensas de mas protección en el tobillo. se puede caminar con ellas como con una botas normales, suela de agarre medio y bastante sujeción en el empeine. se echa de menos un poco mas de

Best Trials Boots ever!!
5/5

These boots are soft and keep your feet dry when riding trials. I do put my own insole into them to get some arch support but after that I can wear these all day long!

Best trials boot i've owned
5/5

These are by far the best trials boots I've owned. Very comfortable. Perfect balance of flexibility and protection. They keep my feet dry on wet days, however like most trials boots i've owned don't breath well on hot days. These boots are also great as a lighter weight adventure boot. I have no problems wearing them all day. I had to return my first pair because I measured off the Gaerne website and it suggested I needed a 41, however I bought 42 which ended up being too tight. In the end the 43 was just right.

Awesome Boot for Adventure Riding
5/5

I purchased this boot specifically because of the Italian Leather. This is the most comfortable mx style boot I have ever worn. I use it for enduro and adventure riding. I have even worn it to church since my jeans can go over the top of the boot unlike most mx boots. These are great boots!

Great fit and feel and also excellent peg, brake and shifter feedback
4/5

Purchased these boots based on the reviews and couldn't be happier. Excellent fit and feel on the trials pegs but the sole isn't nearly as stuff as a moto boot (by design) so I prefer more stiffness for those rides, however, I'm tempted to use these for light rides in the ADV when it's hot out too. The waterproof lining may be a bit overkill as I live in the desert but it it what it is. The gummy sole offers great traction when walking around during rides. The buckles are easy to close, all in all very happy with these boots.

Comfort King of mc boots
5/5

Upgraded my trials bike from a 99 Techno 250 to a 21 Evo 300, and believed I needed to do the same for my boots! Had been using an old pair of Oneal elements. These are beautiful to look at, but even more beautiful to wear, right from the start, no break-in needed!

The Crème de la Crème of Motorcycle Boots
5/5

These boots were designed for trails (not trail) riding. I noticed they’re the preferred boot of virtually every member in my state’s Trials Association, and all those asked about them gave glowing reviews. So, when my A-Stars ‘No Stop’ trials boots wore out prematurely I bought these to replace them for trials practice and competitions, where the most valued features are feel, flexibility and all-day comfort. These boots deliver those qualities in spades. Break-in consists or consists of little more than strapping them on and walking over to your bike. The quality of the leather is superb and the Old World craftsmanship flawless. Their soft, gummy and flat soles make them as comfortable off the bike as on. Like countless others, I soon discovered these “trials” boots made better adventure touring boots than the ones I owned designed specifically for that purpose – they’re lighter, more flexible, more comfortable and breath better without ever having taken in a drop of water. I use these also for teaching offroad riding to beginners where the protection afforded by proper MX boots is not needed. They are just slightly wide for my narrow feet but Fox’s Coolmax THICK socks solved that problem. Theses boots only seem to get better with age, use, and abuse. After 8 years mine have taken on a beautiful patina of wear and battle scars but remain perfect structurally. Without question, Gaerne’s Balance Oiled Browns are the best all-around boot I have ever owned.

Great Boots
5/5

These are my first pair of gaerne boots. They are great right out of the box. Super comfortable. no brake in perio needed. I have to also say they ware also WATERPROOF which is a great plus for enduro riders. I Love the leather. I Will definitely buy again!

Great Light Boots
5/5

Boots fit true to size at Gaerne's sizing of US 11, EU 46. I wear US 11 which is typically EU45, but according to Gaerne's website they equate that to 46. The tag on the boots also says US11, EU46. Great boots!

AMAZING BOOTS
5/5

I am REALLY pleased with the quality and performance of these boots, They are extremely confortable and well made. it reminds me of those years I was doing Mountain Biking and the first time I tried MTB shoes with cleats, it just make a WHOLE difference when riding. Well, it is the same with these Motorcycle boots, they are a solid platform for my feet when riding. I rode all day long yesterday in east Pennsylvania USA and got heavy rain in my way back home (New Jersey), the boots proved to be EXCELLENT one more time, my feet was 100% dry when I got home. I consider the boots great for Touring, Gravel roads, light off-road riding, So if you are in the enduro, extreme adventure business your best bet are the SG12, because these boots are not designed for that type of endurance. People with negative comments about the boots is due they got the WRONG boots OR they were short of money, Thanks Mototstorm for fast shipping!

Great for Vintage Trials
5/5

I ride vintage trials bike, and these boots strike a good balance of a 'semi- vintage' style without compromising on safety. Gaerne are one of the few boot makers who make comfortable boots for my wide feet.

Manufacturing defect
1/5

I was excited about these boots after seeing their positive review on Fortnine. Out of the box they fit way too big, but I did my best to live with that. What was way worse was that ~9 months into using them (2,000 miles of only street riding) I noticed the stitching around the toe was coming undone. The loose thread could easily be pulled, stich by stich, out of the boot where the tongue meets the lower portion. I know how to sew and am nearly certain that this is due to a bottom stitch missing (which would clearly be a manufacturing defect). I reached out to motostorm and they offered to help with a repair or replacement if I ship the boots back (which will cost me between $100-$300), they also offered to possibly cover a portion of the repair cost should I get them fixed locally (still need to look into this). I also reached out to Gaerne and they were unwilling to help. I thought I was buying a premium boot at $300, but it appears these are poorly made. Good thing I know how to stitch. I'll fix them myself I guess as they continue to deteriorate.

Balance boots

Amazing boots, love them! I have many motocross boots have have done lots of research on these boots for trial riding. They are very comfortable and can been worn for a long duration. I would highly recommend these boots for anyone getting in to trials riding.
