The P08 filter ensures a very high air flow (5000 l
- mq./sec.) can not be reached either by the cotton filters (value between 3500 and 4500 l.
- mq./sec . dependent on the number of layers used ) nor by filters card (max . 1000 l.
- mq./sec.). Moreover, by virtue of the uniform distribution of the air passages, it ensures a constant air flow and turbulence across the filter section, thus ensuring perfect air box functionality.
Bench tests have confirmed the importance of a clean laminar flow: a 4 -cylinder 1000 without remapping of the ECU has provided a lot more torque and 2.5 hp more at half of the power curve, in the area that is able to ensure a fuller throttle response.
The symmetry and the distribution of the polyester mesh membrane filter guarantees a better efficiency retention of significant particles, which does not diminish over time.
In cotton filter, however, the retention of the smaller particles tends to decrease rapidly, since the oil in the filter is soaked cotton is systematically aspirated during operation of the engine. The inhomogeneity of the filter texture, also, affects in a very negative way on the laminar flow and, consequently, the efficiency of the engine.
