Product information

Heat dissipators for brake calipers capable of optimizing the thermal insulation of the pad from the caliper and its cooling. The idea stems from careful observation of the dynamics of braking systems, especially the transformation of thermal energy during their use and its propagation in the components involved in the braking action. It has been observed that the increase in vehicle performance and manufacturers' tendency to reduce costs, especially with the advent of sintered materials, have led to a loss of performance balance in some braking systems compared to previous years. Hence the need to 'invent' a device with two functions: the first to limit the thermal transfer of heat from the pads to the caliper and brake system oil, and the second to cool the brake pad to avoid its use under critical temperature conditions. These special 'Hybrid' plates have been created, consisting of two parts: one part in special thermal steel and the other a lightweight alloy dissipator made from a solid piece in Teremal, a particular lightweight alloy with a strong thermal exchange capacity. The project underwent over a year of testing and comparisons on track until the final version. Our dissipators have been designed using two different metallic elements to optimize the thermal insulation of the pad from the caliper and its cooling. The main body of our dissipator is made of special thermal steel with a high degree of heat conductivity. The material is first laser cut and then CNC machined in our work centers. The slots are designed to reduce the contact surface and also to expel the hot air formed inside the piston cavity, reducing the effect of a hot chamber and the propagation of heat in the piston and also in the oil. A lightweight alloy dissipator made of special high thermal conductivity aluminum is connected to the main steel body, which helps in the heat dissipation process. Our tests have shown a reduction in pad temperature by up to 20 degrees, followed by an increase in braking, an incredible initial bite stable over time, excellent rollback of the brake caliper pistons, and a consequent reduction in static braking force. Additionally, the pads have shown a 25% longer life due to less severe usage temperatures. The project required over a year of development, during which we used various motorcycles, always obtaining the same result. The development of the project lasted a year, starting with the choice of materials and their manufacturing process. Various configurations and material processes were tested, using data acquisition tools and special thermal cameras to observe heat propagation, examining different points of the brake caliper and pad. We spent over 500 hours on the track and covered 20,000 km on the road. In total, the product was tested on six different motorcycles and in various usage conditions. We have thus arrived at these configurations, which in our opinion guarantee the exact compromise between efficiency, weight, cost, and ease of installation.
