This strap design is the best for lashing down bags. the webbing is strong and wide, and the metal cam buckles allow you to really tighten up the strap and it will not come loose. I use a similar designed strap (though much larger) to strap down my kayaks to the roof of my truck, and the design is sound. These straps do exactly what they are supposed to do, and they do it well. I used to use elastic cords/bungees to strap down, but once I found these I have not used the elastics because they tend to shift around. Once you strap down with these your cargo will not move. I recommend getting the longer ones since you can always stow away the excess strap, and you would be surprised how much strap it actually takes to tie some bags down.
